Finepart helps manufacturers of high value-added products made of advanced materials achieve ultimate precision cutting of high quality with non-thermal micro abrasive waterjet technology.
Finepart strives to be a world-leading provider of non-thermal precision cutting for fine mechanics. The company is a public innovative and technology-oriented entity that develops and sells the FinecutTM machine for component manufacturing with high precision.
The micro abrasive waterjet cutting technology utilizes ultra-high pressure water to create a jet that accelerates fine grit (abrasives) and removes material by particle erosion.
Finecut AB initially developed the Finecut machine in 2006. It was first displayed publicly on Tekniska mässan in Stockholm, Sweden 2009, and the two first machines were sold the same year.
Finepart Sweden acquired all patents, trademarks, and rights to the Finecut technology in 2012. The principal engineers for the Finecut technology, Dr. Christian Öjmertz and research engineer Mr. Don Miller, are both still active within Finepart Sweden AB.
The Work History of Finepart explains many of its secrets that have been the steps towards reaching goals. From 2006 to date, Finepart has been constantly in the growing stage where completing one phase to start another has become the key to success.
- 2006: The Finecut machine started to be developed by the team of Finecut AB.
- 2008: The first Finecut prototype system was functional, including Finecut’s novel proprietary micro-cutting systems FAW200 and FAW300. (Numbers standing for cutting jet diameter in microns)
- 2009: The refined Finecut machine was shown public on Tekniska mässan in Stockholm, Sweden.
- 2012: Finepart Sweden AB was established as a company and acquired all trademarks, rights, and patents from Finecut AB, including all employees.
- 2013: Finecut 4X with a rotary table was launched
- 2014: The first 5-axis Finecut was sold and installed at a customer location
- 2014: The option Touch probe was launched
- 2016: Finepart Sweden AB became a public company and is listed on the Spotlight stock market
- 2019: Finecut B4X was launched, a 5-axis configuration combining a tilting cutting head with a rotary table, allowing very complex 3D geometries to be cut.
- 2020: The 5-axis Finecut ABX, a refinement of the 2014 5-axis configuration, was launched
- 2022: The option “Finecam,” a high-resolution video measurement system, was launched
Some of the key features of Finepart to reach success are:
The Team: The Finepart team has a solid technical background and is highly innovative and solution-oriented, which has given the company the capability of providing manufacturing solutions for advanced components.
The team members’ background in research and development of waterjet technology for more than three decades in academic and industrial applications and services for more than 35 years is a significant benefit.
The unique Finecut cutting process: The development of a proprietary cutting system design with a jet diameter down to 200 microns, combined with a very accurate motion system and advanced control, has provided the base for probably the most precise geometrically parts on the market being cut with waterjet technology.
This has opened a significant opportunity to enjoy this non-thermal process’s benefits, combined with achieving parts of high dimensional tolerance levels.
The machine design: The innovative approach of the development team has led to the creation of an exemplary mechanical machine, not built like traditional waterjet cutting tables but instead of a conceptual design of a specific machine tool.
This machine concept, along with the application of state-of-the-art technology and components, provides unique opportunities for developing advanced multi-axis motion solutions that can offer solutions to complex manufacturing challenges and a very flexible range of applications.
The team’s customer-oriented business model: The Finepart team strives to work closely with the customers to learn and understand the functional requirements and challenges carefully. In tests and result dialogue, the whole team aims to jointly find an optimum path to technical success and ensure the smooth introduction of our technology on-site to the customer.
Finepart offers initial production of the customer parts, involving fixturing development and process optimization, and the customer’s operators can even start producing at our facilities. Utilizing this opportunity will provide super-fast implementation upon installation on the customer’s site.
