The corona virus, also known as Covid-19, is a virus that has caused malignant health challenges to many people globally. In extreme cases, the dreaded virus has led to the death of thousands of lives around the globe. In another parlance, the virus has brought nearly all countries to an outright standstill, in a bid to contain it.

However, just like other industries, the online casino industry is also affected by the Covid-19 virus. To this extent, this article seeks to explain how the Covid-19 virus affects the online casino industry in the following ways.

Delays of new slot games

Most companies have and are still directing most of their staff to work from home and avoid office works. Production of games requires quite a lot, such as brainstorming sessions, accurate mathematics, design, and graphics strategy, amongst others. All these may not be adequately harnessed when staff are working from home, which might lead to a delay when it comes to new slot games.

Longer periods of resolving customer complaints

Customer complaints might take longer than usual to resolve since many of the issues can’t be resolved by agents working from home. As a matter of urgency, some casinos might shut down customer complaints, as the lock-down and social distancing increases.

Difficulty loading games

All casino games runs on the game providers server and needs an constant maintenance to be to ensure optimum performance. Considering the Covid-19 outbreak, maintaining servers could be of a low priority for most companies during the period. This would inevitably bring about difficulty and stress in loading games.

Some players would concentrate more on online casinos

It is quite true that most players may not have time for casino games in times like this. Nevertheless, owing to the nature of Covid-19 as a contact-based virus, players who prefer playing at land-based casinos will now resort to online casinos. Such players will have to seize the opportunities provided by online casinos, and some might even stick to it thereafter. Ergo, there might be an increase in new online casino players with a shift from land-based casinos to online.

Some online casinos may scale down on new raffles and promotions

Admittedly, these are hard times as Covid-19 has severely hit almost everything. Most online casinos could need to relocate their time and resources and only focus on the essentials in order to survive the pandemic. This could lead to casinos scale down on time consuming things such as interesting raffles, new promotions and instead focus on simpler ones.
