Being an entrepreneur can be stressful and extremely time-consuming. Not by chance, the rate of burnout is quickly increasing all over the world. With thousands of deadlines approaching, plenty of important tasks on our to-do list, and an infinite number of people to contact, even taking a fifteen-minute break for ourselves can at times feel impossible. But according to Rebecca Campell, this step is absolutely fundamental to living a fulfilled and happy life.
Campbell is an internationally bestselling writer whose goal in life is to help as many people as possible to live a soul-led life. Her workshops and courses have been translated into over 20 languages and hundreds of thousands of people have benefited from them. But what is a soul-led life, how can you start living one, and can you really implement it in your busy professional schedule?
According to Campbell, living a soul-led life means putting in an effort every day to actively listen to your soul and follow its lead. This practice will help you reconnect with your inner self and guide you toward your true life calling. But how can you do this in practice while dealing with your business?
Fifteen minutes a day can go a long way
The first step to living a soul-led life is to spend 15 minutes every day on soulful practice. It doesn’t matter how busy your day is, these fifteen minutes are non-negotiable!
Turn off your phone, forget about all your duties, and do something that fills you with joy. It can be anything from a long walk in nature, journaling, or yoga practice. “Listening and acting on the calls of our soul is not a one-time thing, it is a way of life. It requires that we prioritize the connection, trust the guidance we receive and act on it each and every day,” said Rebecca.
During this time, make sure to not only let go of all your worries but also reflect on personal development. Ask yourself questions such as ‘Am I living a fulfilling life?’ or ‘Am I truly happy?’
Even though, in the beginning, it may be challenging for you to open up to your true self, with time, listening to your soul will become easier and easier. You will soon realize that your soul is eager to provide you with answers only if you learn how to listen.
Figure out your true life-calling
You may be the owner of an extremely successful business, have tons of clients who love your products and service, and maybe even have enough free time to take care of yourself, but still, you feel there’s something missing in your life. Then you may want to reevaluate whether you have chosen the right career path.
You cannot live a soul-led life unless you find your true life calling. Ask yourself whether what you’re doing truly makes you happy and if the answer is no, find the courage to start a new life path that better reflects yourself. Pretending to be someone you’re not will never lead to happiness and fulfillment. “Taking baby steps in the direction of the call will transform your life. You will move from receiving guidance to living a guided life,” said Rebecca.
Let others help you
Living a soul-led life also means knowing your own limitations. When we start a new business, we often don’t have the financial resources to pay someone to help us out. However, as our brand grows, so do our earnings. Unfortunately, most of the time, when this happens people are so caught up in their business that they don’t feel like delegating to anyone.
Living a soul-led life teaches us how to control our ego and understand that there are thousands of people out there that are just as dedicated and professional as we are and may even be better in certain specific skills. “As an entrepreneur, you wear so many hats in your business. Learning to release control and receive support is such a big change which made my business more sustainable,” says Rebecca.
