Notre Dame Cathedral structures kept standing after a massive fire outbreak

Colossus, an 1100 pound robot was of crucial help during the horrific fire incident that happened on Monday 15th at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The fire threatened a whole lot of priceless religious treasures at the Cathedral including the Cathedral’s structure itself.

The robot was built by Shark Robotics, a French company and was designed to resemble a tank with a height of 5.25feet and a width of 2.5feet. It was equipped with motorized water cannon capable of firing about 660 gallons of water per minute.

According to the company, the robot is powered by a lithium-ion battery which can power it up for 8 hours and build to be thermal resistant and waterproof. Also, the machine can be installed with a smoke extracting fan, sensors and most importantly cameras which help in controlling the device in areas where the operator has no line of sight.

Speaking on the heroic robot, commander of the Paris Fire Brigade, Jean Claude Gallet said the robot was of great help in lowering the temperature inside the Cathedral during the fire which in turn helped to save human lives and properties.

Also Gabriel Plus, the spokesman for the fire brigade said, in the beginning, it was apparent to imagine the cathedral will collapse. “The wind is against us, the time is against us, and we needed an upper hand” which the robot gave to the firefighters and helped in salvaging the situation.

Experts said other countries are already developing robots which will help assist firefighters in combating fires.
