DPA Microphones Help to Produce Clear and Detailed Sound Out of Buddhist Singing Bowls

A producer and engineer, Chan Pui Ching, has recorded a clear and detailed sound from 30 Singing bowls with the help of DPA’s d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphone. When the Chinese artist and wellness guru, Tsang Man Tung, played on 30 Singing bowls, the use of DPA microphones delivered a natural sound which produced a soothing effect in the environment.

Chan said that the choice of the right microphones was a crucial step in the beginning phase of the process to produce sound at the full frequency range of the bowls. He also said that the right sound came out when d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphones were mounted at the right location. Due to this, it became possible for them to capture a balanced sound of the high and low frequencies.

Singing bowls carry high importance in the Buddhist community. These ancient instruments have been used in Buddhist religious ceremonies for a long time during the periods of meditation and chanting. Various music therapists, sound healers, and yoga teachers use the harmonious sound of Singing bowls to relax as well as a calm mind. Online sources, such as Pinnable Beauty, have mentioned every single detail of Singing Bowls. And with the availability of similar sources over the internet, people have become aware of this meditation tool.

Like his many other previous albums, Tsang has used Singing Bowls in his new album, The Seed of Sound. However, unlike other albums, the new album is recorded live without the addition of any effect at the post-production stage, which he revealed was really a challenging task for them. Each of the 30 bowls that were used in the production of the new album has different sounds. Also, the radiating pattern is quite complicated as it involves different sizes and materials of bowls. A total of 39 tracks had been recorded over a time-span of three days.
