Many talented celebrities like Gabrielle Union, Miranda Kerr, Maria Lopez have gorgeous dimples to flaunt. Many of those who are not blessed as them are now opting for Dimpleplasty to achieve the charming smiles. Dr. Earl Stephenson (board certified) throws some light on the procedure.

Dr. Stephenson says after location is determined, the area is gently numbed. Dimple is made from inside of the cheek so that there aren’t post-surgery scars. The stitches are dissolvable. Dimpleplasty takes minimal downtime and is a short office procedure for someone with good physical health. During consultation, the surgeon will definitely go through your medical conditions, understand your expectations and then determine whether you are fit to undergo a dimple creation surgery or not. Patients with round cheeks benefit more as the dimple placement can break up the fullness of the cheek and lead to narrower contours.

He warns that the patient should know the dimples are present at all the times once the surgery is successful, even when you are not smiling. It will gradually settle after some months of healing. You need to consider this before the surgery because the results are permanent. Following the surgery routine follow-ups are important to make sure everything is properly healed and that the desired result has been achieved. The visits differ from surgeon to surgeon. In case of Dr. Stevenson, his evaluation of a patient’s progress is at 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months & 6 months.
