“Be first rated version of yourself, rather being second rated version of someone else”: Photographer Luca De Massis on Plagiarism

One of the biggest challenges for any artist associated with any profession is, to be free from being tagged as a “copy cat”.

If an artist is found guilty for plagiarism, then his entire career can be adversely affected . It is often seen that many young budding artists take inspiration from the already established ones, which cannot be stated as wrong completely.

One must take motivation from our seniors and experienced professionals, but what makes the matter worst is, there are a large number of artists who simply copy the creations of others without putting in a single effort of their own. Especially in photography profession, you will find numerous examples of such people who are famous for their plagiarised content.

But despite all this, there is a always an exception everywhere. And one such exception is Italy based renowned photographer Luca De Massis. He is a modern artist who always focuses on bringing out the best through his photographs but also keeps in mind of restoring their originality. Popular for his various projects in the fields of fashion and cinematography, this incredible photographer has always brought out the real beauty of art wherever he went.

He had never faced any sort of criticism on the authenticity of his art in his fifteen years long career so far. Also he had never been associated with any sort of controversy related to copying someone else’s creation.

Luca De Massis always give priority to the originality and uniqueness in his content. According to Luca, one must trigger his mind at least once to extract new and fresh ideas, rather than taking the shortcut of copying someone else’s idea with little bit alterations. Its ok if you fail or the audience disliked your art, but at the end you would be satisfied that whatever you did, it was of your own, and you have not stealed it from anyone.

Luca De Massis is truly an inspiration for today’s youth especially the ones who wish to make career in photography. Luca advises that it is better to be the first rated version of your own self, instead of being second rated version of someone else.

Some of Luca’s works have been featured in the popular magazines Vogue Italia and Elle and authenticity is guaranteed in all of his works. No doubt, Luca De Massis really one of a kind.
