2 Saudi Entrepreneurs Will Meet Tech Giants’ Officials in Silicon Valley

JEDDAH – After registering a win in a contest run by Saudi female startup group, Blossom, two Saudi entrepreneurs have got an opportunity to meet the officials of the world’s biggest tech companies. The two startups were selected from a long list of over 100 applicants and also the second selection was made from the list of top five. Their meeting will be held in the US where they will interact with the officials of various tech giants namely, Google, Facebook, and Uber. During the annual event on June 26, both the entrepreneurs will sit on Blossom’s panel, which was inaugurated in San Francisco by Saudi ambassador to the US, Prince Reema Bint Bandar.

Emon Shakoor, the founder of Blossom, Saudi Arabia’s first female-focused startup accelerator had taken a time period of four months to screen out the top five applicants. The participants who topped the list were Ghaliah, Homegrown Market, Swish, Sticky, the Jeddah Ballet Academy and Motion Boutique. Out of these, Swish Basketball Academy and Sticky Mobile App have been selected by Blossom. The Swish Basketball Academy is a basketball training camp and the sticky mobile app is a photography program for mobile phones. According to CEO and founder, Emon Shakoor, the shortlisted applicants had to go through mentoring process, workshop sessions, and various other lecture sessions such as digital marketing and business modeling.

Swish was launched in 2017 with the help of a program, “MoHandles Basketball Camps,” that aims to teach basketball lovers the basics as well as advanced techniques of playing the game. Its plan is to cover the maximum number of communities to raise awareness about sports in both men as well as women. Also, it inculcates the attitude in them to have SMART goal in professional life. On the other hand, Sticky App facilitates clicking photos and taking digital prints. Sticky founder said the firm is planning to introduce innovative and smart photography products in order to help people keep beautiful memories with them.
